This weekend 11 Johns Hopkins Museum Studies MA students from across the country are making their way to San Francisco, where they will join me for a two week intensive graduate seminar. We'll visit nine museum and heritage sites, from the Exploratorium to Angel Island, the California Academy of Sciences to the Oakland Museum of California, and meet with over a dozen museum curators, educators, programmers, and thinkers.
I'm delighted that my seminar partner in crime will be a dear friend and former student, Nicole Meldahl. Nicole will help me manage and teach the seminar--and she has been helping set it up for months! Many thanks to Nicole and her fabulous team for letting us use their Western Neighborhoods Project offices as our home base.
I'm looking forward to lots of thoughtful conversations and delightful moments with our students and my museum colleagues across the Bay Area. You can follow our adventures on my social media accounts: @sab_svp on Instagram and Threads, and in my personal account on Facebook.
I'll be back with more Flowers and Fruit updates at the end of the month.
